Hawkesbury / Hills Area Roller Derby is a non-for-profit sporting league and it is in need of new members. We are the closest Western Sydney league to Quakers Hill.
At the markets, we would like to sell merchandise for the league including bags, shirts and stickers. Come to our meet and greet to discover how you can get involved in this amazing sport!
Roller derby was originally created in the 1930’s co-ed sport and was a very theatrical sport.
The rules were quite relaxed and fans often saw punch-ups on the track.
It was very much a sport for the spectators and not seen as a genuine sport (like WWF)
Modern roller derby is a serious sport with set rules and IS NOT like the movie “Whip It”!
Competitors train between 4 – 10 hours a week on skates, with additional off skates training and despite the fun outfits and names, take their sport very seriously.
See you at the Richmond Good Food Markets – Every Saturday 8am – 1pm
